Ashley Te Whare

As a youngster I played Rugby League, Rugby, and athletics.  Because our family was sports orientated, a lot of the time I was was running around with a ball in hand or out on my feet doing something physical.  

I have always loved drawing...in my younger years I loved drawing marvel comic heroes, or body builders.  As I got older I  I became interested in Maori designs, kowhaiwhai and tamoko.  My relationship with kapahaka ignited a passion within me for Maori koru.  

In my role as a liaison officer, I been able to help youth find more opportunities for using education as a vehicle to achieve their aspirations.  I think it is important for youth to pursue education as a means to achieve their goals and if I can help them achieve to the best of their ability then that I find success within myself.

I have much to give back to my mother and father for offering me a lot of opportunities to do what I wanted...as long as it is within reason...and I am forever indebted to them...they are my inspiration.

I believe that everyone who has a heartbeat, has the energy flowing within them to achieve without any excuses.  If not, they choose to waste their life.
