Tena koutou katoa,

I am a self taught artist who grew up in West Auckland, and I now dwell Southbound.  Within my artwork, I sought to express my vision through the complexity of the world that stands before me.  Throughout my life I have always had an affinitive relationship with painting, and in part, I acknowledge my father's creative flair within art as a foundation for my own appreciation of all artforms.  In addition, the philosophical teachings of my mother have enabled me to gain more freedom in expressing and discovering new forms of understanding.  My personal appreciation of abstract art enables me to paint my own understandings of the world, my experiences from the past, whilst engaging with the imagination of the beholder.

I enjoy experimenting with different themes with most of my recent work being centered around abstract forms, lines and bold colours with a Maori influence.  My inspiration and the lenses through which I view the world stems from my Maori forbears who I care not to detach myself from.  Identity is a key theme in my work acknowledging the treasures that were bestowed upon me from those who have moved on to their final resting place.

My relationship with art has been a lifelong crusade.  Ultimately, I am greatful for the support of my partner who I believe is supportive of my passion for painting (even when paint ends up in the carpet), my family members for their teachings, and their love and support throughout my life.  Finally, I am forever indebted to all those who have believed in me throughout the years, and those who have contributed to the person that stands before them, whether friend or foe.
